EMIS Appoint Agent in Tunisia

EMIS and TechPlus, a local Tunisian company have agreed to establish a working relationship to maximize the opportunities for supplying instrumentation and equipment as well as calibration, repair and management services throughout North Africa.

The aim of the relationship is to carry out business activities in the electronic, industrial, petrochemical, power, aerospace, marine and industrial sectors of Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania.

Joseph O’Neil and Ayman Rachdi of TechPlus have signed a Memorandum of Understanding after working together for one year and already have generated sales for several companies including British Gas Tunisia both for supplying equipment and for calibration services.

Major Expansion of Q-CAL

Q-CAL the joint venture between EMIS and Petrotec (Qatar) continues to expand in Qatar along with the other Petrotec companies and soon will be moving to new premises in the Salwa Industrial area.

The new facilities are planned to be world class with extensive dedicated calibration and repair facilities as well as a new area for the calibration of gas detection equipment. The facilities will be ready before the end of 2003 and will mean a major expansion in line with the increase in activity in the Qatar petrochemical industry.

ISO 9001: 2000

EMIS successfully completed their annual audit from Moody International with only a few observations. This was a significant audit as it was the first since the company split earlier in the year.

The smaller organisation, a quality orientation and a specific focus on the core business of calibration made the audit pass relatively non eventful. Let’s hope all audits are all like this

Calibration Road Show in Libya

EMIS has been awarded a contract by Electronic General Company, Tripoli, Libya to calibrate their extensive range of test equipment. The big catch is that all 500 items of test equipment have to be calibrated on-site within the EGC calibration centre.

Two engineers spent just over a month working their way through the inventory issuing certificates of calibration. When they had a spare minute they also managed to calibrate equipment for other Libyan companies such as Libyan Iron and Steel Company, Libyan Cement Works and General Company for Chemical Industries. They will be back as the potential is considerable for calibration.

EMIS Sign Agreement in Oman

EMIS have signed an agency agreement with a local Omani company called Al-Atlasi with a view to developing calibration business with the Oman MoD and Oman Air. These two organisations have expressed an interest in business development, staff training and calibration support services.

This photograph shows Joseph O’Neil (Director – EMIS), Sheik Salim Al-Rawahi (Managing Director – Al Atlasi), and Steve East (Technical Director – Al Atlasi) signing an agreement to form a partnership.
