offshore services

Initially, EMIS site calibration services were exclusively an onshore application. As demand grew however, this was subsequently developed and was extended to cover calibration operations carried out on offshore facilities.

This initiative converted simple ideas into effective action, allowing test equipment which was traditionally absent from site for 6 weeks for calibration, to be calibrated on-site.

To achieve this, EMIS created a series of transfer standards to ensure that calibration could be carried out over the wide range of test equipment held offshore. It soon became clear that this was the most effective method of calibrating test equipment permanently stationed on a production platform.

EMIS undertook considerable investment in calibration equipment to ensure that equipment could be calibrated offshore as efficiently as possible.

This method delivers a number of benefits, including:

  • Assurance that all equipment is calibrated to QA and Health & Safety satisfaction
  • Reduced calibration costs in comparison to sending equipment onshore for inspection
  • A single transaction cost, with no shipping charges and minimal administration needs
  • Increased utilisation of test equipment, as it is only out of service for the time taken to carry out the calibration
  • No need for hire or replacement as the equipment stays on the platform

Offshore calibration exercises have now been carried out on many occasions by EMIS, with an increasing number of clients eager to take advantage of the benefits presented.

The Case Studies recount particular details of projects where EMIS have assisted their clients in achieving improvements to their offshore instrumentation projects.
